Diabetes, Pumpkins, Sam's Club

Pretty good week so far.  Lila hasn't quite been herself... crankier and clingier than usual, isn't eating very well.  I think it was on Monday night, she slept the whole night in her bed... the first time that's happened in over a year!  She usually only does 9 hours at night.  She's tired when she wakes up, but if she does go back to sleep, it takes like a half hour to an hour for her to fall asleep, so I don't know if it's worth it.  Tuesday evening she fell asleep for a little while but today she seemed fine, and we even went to Sam's Club after dinner and she didn't sleep in the car.  Anyway.

Monday morning, Lila and I went grocery shopping with Kate and baby George.  Pretty random.  But fun.  I didn't get much.  A pumpkin and some carving tools.  Some snacks.  By the time Lila went down for her nap, Jake got home.  We got to spend a little time together before I had to leave for my Gestational Diabetes class.

The class went well.  It was an hour and a half.  Got our glucose meters and learned how to use them.  Learned what our diets should be like.  I need to test my glucose levels four times a day (first thing in the morning--my fasting level, and an hour after beginning each meal).  And I have to watch my carbs... and basically not eat sweets or drink pop or juice.  I get 2 carbs in the morning (but can't have cereal) (and 1 carb is around 15g), 1-2 for my morning, afternoon, and bedtime snacks, and 3 for lunch and dinner.  It's not that bad.  I'm just bummed that I'll have to miss out on Halloween and Thanksgiving this year, but I can pig out at Christmas.

For FHE went went for a short walk (and took the Caldwell boys) and then we carved our pumpkin.  Jake and I took turns carving.  Lila wasn't that interested.  She does think "Halloween is skee-wee" after all.

Yesterday morning, I had a Primary meeting.  Lila did better playing with the other girls and wasn't as clingy to me as the first time we went to the Loso's.  I sent her off and she played happily with them, which was great.  I have lots to do for my calling.  I tried squeezing it in during her nap, but I was only able to get halfway through.

  1. What are you eating in place of the carbs? I have to do the glucose test next month, and I'm worried I'm going to fail. I've been craving so many sweets lately!
